The End of All Magic

What's Your Goal?

I’m going to experiment with some audio podcasts. This is a short one to begin, but the topic is an important consideration: what do you think the goal of magic should be, and do you incorporate that into your presentations? I know I have some work to do to get to where I want to be, but that’s why we’re here…

An Idea for the DIYers

I belong to a few Facebook magic groups, and recently in Magicians Only, Dr. Richard Wiseman shared this amazing idea for a book case using an inexpensive IKEA piece of furn.

If you can manage the artwork, the rest works itself! Not going to lie, I’m thinking about making one myself. 😁

“I wanted an unusual bookcase for some of my magic stuff, and so I took an old Ikea Kallax 4x2, added some doors and stickers and voila.....”

Check out Dr. Wiseman’s channel for some great magic, gambling, and psychology content!)

Asi Wind Gets Even More Popular

You’ve no doubt seen Asi Wind’s recent interview on Andrew Huberman’s podcast by now. If not, I encourage you to check it out. He shares some great magic - as we’ve all come to expect from Asi - and the reactions in the comments section speak for themselves.

If you haven’t explored any of Asi’s magic, he has a book out filled with great material. My Repertoire review has been the most popular video on my channel for several years now (due to the pull of Asi’s brand name). It’s not cheap, but it is beautiful, and I still perform pieces from it. Asi painted almost all the illustrations for it!

Old Wine in New Bottles

It’s amazing that we’re still studying Ted Annemann and the magic/mentalism he created almost 90 years ago. It’s a testament to the timeless nature of magic, and an important connection to our magical past. Here’s a trick from The Jinx I learned a while ago, along with my own twist to give it a more modern presentation.

The buildup from the author himself…

“One of the greatest effects in thought transmission is the coding of pictures freely drawn by the audience…in itself and as far as it goes, the effect is quite marvelous to an audience and at the same time satisfying to the most exact performer in regards to cleaness [sic] of working…

I doubt if a cleaner method of duplicating pictures can be devised for one person. From the viewpoint of the audience it is convincing and more than fair in every way.”

— Ted Annemann
